Wild Tangent wins again

Yes, this is another attention seeking article, but since I’ve bothered to write one, I deserve the attention and whether you give a crap or not, thank you =)

Last week, Wild Tangent fielded their 2nd XI (117k) and defeated Jail Bred Boys (125k) with a 6 wicket win to remain undefeated in SOD 3.2 Aus. This gave Wild Tangent some sort of advantage for the PC and T20 to come, despite Round 5 opposition Manager Maxi playing against a bot to allow near-maximum fatigue management.

That said, Wild Tangent were able to take the whole 10 wickets on a sticky pitch against them taking them out in 49 overs but their scoring rate was destroyed at the 45 over mark - failing to utilize their death overs as a run rate catalyst. Once again, despite being the worst bowler on paper, Scott Cook took 4-65 and remain the leading wicket taker by a fair bit this season.

Wild Tangent batsmen were able to bat smart, not taking risks, and caught up to the target with 5 overs to spare. The team does not meet superior opposition till round 8 against Wowser, but cannot be complacent against any team before that.

Today, the T20 encounter against Team Topdeck - currently 7th on the table and knocked out of cup round 1 - resulted in the win for Wild Tangent after almost being utterly defeated. Bowling well, Wild Tangent restricted Team Topdeck to 89 runs on a sticky pitch with only two batsmen scoring over 20. However, on such pitches, it can be defendable provided with a great bowling attack.

Which was proven, when 5 wickets were lost very quickly at 5-32. Jack McKay provided some fight and his AR partner George Heron was out and the scores were 6-51. Victory was uncertain in whose hands, but the drops on McKay and AR Grout proved to have costed Team Topdeck severely as steady runs reached the target score with 7 balls to spare.

This victory leaves Wild Tangent at the top of T20 1.1 with ‘Tickets Please 4 points less. All other match results in the league went towards WT’s advantage stopping 2 teams to become equal second.

Next week T20 match is against MOD-Deltronzero.
